Nieuwe Kerk

The Nieuwe Kerk (“New Church”) is one of the most top tourist attractions in Amsterdam. The church is located on the Dam Square next to the Royal Palace and is worth visiting.
The Nieuwe Kerk was built in the early 15th century but burned down almost completely in a fire in 1645 after which it was rebuilt in Gothic style. Many neo-Gothic elements were added between 1892 and 1914 when the church went through an extensive renovation.
Today the Nieuwe Kirk is no longer used for religious services and hosts exhibitions on treasures from other countries and cultures, and organ concerts. The church is also used for royal inaugurations and royal weddings.
