De Wallen
De Wallen is the largest and the most famous red-light district in Amsterdam located south of the Oude Kerk in the old part of city. The area is best known for several hundred one-room cabins which are rented by prostitutes offering their services behind a window, typically illuminated by red light. In addition to prostitution (which is legal in the Netherlands with the exception of street prostitution), De Wallen has also numerous sex shops, peep shows, sex theaters and a number of coffee shops selling marijuana which is also allowed in the Netherlands in small quantities by “licensed” coffee shops.
De Wallen area is one of the top tourist attractions in Amsterdam. Whether it is worth visiting or not is up to you to decide.
