Introduction to Amsterdam

Amsterdam

Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands is one the top tourist destinations in Europe visited by over 3 million of people per year. The city is perhaps best known for De Wallen area, a red-light district consisting of several hundred one room cabins rented by prostitutes who are offering their service from behind a window as well as numerous sex shops, sex theaters, peep shows and coffee shops selling marijuana. However, Amsterdam offers much more than just the red-light district. The charming canals, impressive architecture and numerous quality museums make the “Venice of the North” as Amsterdam is often referred a perfect destination for virtually every traveller. The majority of the major sights in Amsterdam are found in the heart of the city and can be reached by foot in few minutes from anywhere in the city centre. Booking a room in one of the districts forming the centre - Old Center, Grachtengordel, Jordaan and Plantage is therefore the best way to experience the city of Amsterdam.
